Office life can be boring and daunting because of the monotonous lifestyle. However, it might be a completely different experience at The Sentry Z. The Sentry Z is a flexible multi-story office-for-rent building located in District 1, Ho Chi Minh City. It is the youngest member of the Sentry ecosystem - a community builder that strives to redefine workspace, communal areas and amenities with their unique edge, and unconventionality.
Embracing the Sentry’s spirits, we developed an architectural branding language called Sentry Elements, which transform functional structures and amenities into interactive elements that reinvent users’ experience and encourage interactions. Your conventional reception desk in the lobby area was replaced with a futuristic Sentry self check-in counter which also serves as the interactive signage and communal pantry.
The Sentry Z’s commitment to sustainability was a core principle that drove every design decision. Partnering with PlasticPEOPLE, we used over 4.5 tons of plastic waste and 100% recycled plastic panels to design different furniture and joinery. Existing full-height glazings were maintained and designed to maximize natural light into the interiors, thus reducing the use of artificial lighting. Nature has also been integrated through biophilic design that allows vegetation to grow on Sentry elements in various directions.
The wellbeing of the office users was also considered to promote a social sustainable working environment and encourage productivity. Over 55% of the space is dedicated to the community. We get to experience a collaborative environment on each floor through the strategic spatial planning of meeting rooms, chill-out space and common work area. The material palette, inspired from the Saigon Zoo nearby, was carefully curated in earthy tones that hold the closest feel to nature to provide a comfortable working ambience.
Overall, the Sentry Z is an interesting addition to the office ecosystems in Ho Chi Minh city that is designed to bring fun to the workplace. We hope to bring an innovative approach to the definition of office environment in Vietnam and advocate for commercial designs that put greater emphasis on sustainability as the design driver.
